Accurate (except it won’t wait until 2020 - it’ll just keep ramping up).
Hey, I’m sorry to be posting political stuff here. I promise I won’t do it often. Just vote, okay? Do it.
Vote.
Please, to all my eligible American voters- Go vote tomorrow. Your vote matters. I cannot stress it enough.
Remember the long stretch of injustices under our current administration, and know that things have the potential to grow so much worse. Our president is a lying, xenophobic fascist, and his temper tantrums and assault on the people have gone unchecked for far too long now.
Remember the Muslim travel ban. Remember the proud, unafraid, hateful faces of the Neo-Nazis that marched so openly in Charlottesville, so incentivized by our administration’s rhetoric that they didn’t even feel the need to hide their faces behind hoods and masks. Remember how Trump did not condemn them, and continues to (very suspiciously) refuse to renounce white supremacy. Remember the immigrant children forced into camps, made to sleep in cages. Remember mass shooting after mass shooting, and remember how Republicans sat on their hands and did nothing to curb gun violence, and viciously attacked any solution besides total apathy to murdered schoolchildren. Remember the constant attacks on healthcare, the erasure of LGBT identities, the denial of climate change, the selection of Brett Kavanaugh.
Remember it all, and go vote. Vote Democrat.
We don’t have the luxury of doubt anymore, guys. Vote, even if you’re not thrilled about the candidates. Vote, even if you live in a state that’s leaned red for decades. Vote, even if you think it’s pointless. If your vote didn’t matter, there wouldn’t be so many republicans trying to suppress it. Don’t refuse to vote out of protest- you might get to stroke your ego by feeling like a rebel, but know that apathy is a stance that always takes the side of the oppressors. Those in power want you to be apathetic and complacent, so they can dismantle our liberties and destroy lives while we shrug our shoulders. It’s far braver to vote.
All of us have the power to make a change. Let’s change things for the better. On Tuesday, November 6th, get out there and destroy the GOP.
Here’s the thing: if the Republicans don’t suffer significant losses in the midterms, then they will interpret this as meaning that the racism and the xenophobia and the scapegoating of Jews and muslims and transgender people are winning propositions, and they will double down on all of these things. Yes the Democrats are frustratingly mediocre, and it sucks. But things still have a LOT of room to get worse.
