I literally had a friend say this the other day while having dinner with him and his husband.
“Listen.” He said. “I served in the military. 10 years in the army, and had to keep my mouth shut and pretend. I had to pretend to everyone, until I just got sick of it and decided fuck you all. I haven’t been nice in years. Everyone saying I should shut up can kiss my ass.”
If people wanted nice gay people they should have been nicer to them.
I think the biggest failure of modern DC films is also the reason why the wonder woman movie is so great. Superhero films arent about hte heros or the action scenes, its about providing a beacon of hope in dark times, to be an inspiration to people to be a better person. With most of the DC films being dark and gritty, that kind of gets lost. The people no longer look up to batman as a hero, they look up to him in fear. Same with superman. But thats why wonder woman was so great because she WAS hope in such a horrible time. She WAS a source of inspiration to the other characters to be better. She is the only modern DC film to understand what it means to be a hero

Both mos and bvs is hopeful and optimisms but it also at the same time does not ignoring the darkness in our world. Even if it acknowledging the darkness, it still reach the conclusion that things can still be better and human can still be good which is what all these heroes are still believe in and never lose hope about that belief. This is what it truly means about the beacon of hope
thats not hopeful, its cliche and kind of loses its meaning when you remember that john died because he told Clark NOT to save him when he totally could. Hallucinations of dead relatives is piss poor motivation.
