honestly tho these 13/14/15 yr olds on here who animate their own shit and practice color theory and constantly churn out art really fill my dead aching heart with hope for the future. y’all are super fucking talented and i’m so proud of you motherfuckers. keep up the good work.

And then I remembered that once I told a classmate of mine to read a book and her answer was: “what are you saying???God NO!” and all hope gets vanished again.

consider: maybe don’t base your hope on someone else not wanting to read a book. instead of holding people to weirdly specific and superficial standards that somehow influence your views of the future, accept others as they are and move forward without trying to mar positivity with your own bitterness. thanks.

Honestly I love reading, but if someone’s alternative is creating then I think that’s fine. Not to mention if you have dyslexia or ADHD sitting down and reading a book could get really frustrating and/or boring.

I don’t blame people who don’t have the time or patience to read books. What I do take issue with are people who think books are completely useless or that the people who actually like reading are somehow freaks. Seriously one time I was reading a book and some girl at my table said, “Is that for a class?” When I told her it wasn’t she looked at me as if I’d grown a third arm. I told her that I enjoyed reading and she said that that’s weird.

I know reading isn’t everyone’s thing and I understand that for some people reading is difficult through no fault of their own. However people shouldn’t treat any and all reading as if it’s some kind of chore and not something people actually like to do.

you know this a post about being happy about young creators and not some weird moral debate about reading right? and that creating art isn’t an alternative to reading books—stop this weird mbti introvert shit and get off your high horse.

anyways 13/14/15 yr olds on here who do that funky art are bangin and I’m proud of yall don’t let these Debby downers get to ya xoxo

In 1937 two women caused a car accident by wearing shorts in public for the first time

I vow to reblog this every time is shows up on my dash

love this

they caused a car crash

No they didn’t. The man driving his car who took his eyes off the road because he was staring at a pair of women caused a car crash. He averted his eyes from the road, he endangered other people and he crashed his own car. This is all the proof you need that we live in a society that blames women for things they didn’t do.

it’s because reality is terrifying and our world’s dying, and our developmental years were spent in a constant state of using increasingly nonsensical humor to cope

It’s called the rise of neo-dadaism and the same thing happened during WWII

well that’s not concerning At All

time out hold up sweetheart let’s get it together before you wanna spread  art historical misinformation

@biggest-gaudiest-patronuses has a spot on summary of the dada ideology; these artists reacted to the horrors and atrocities of WWI by embracing nonsense in a world that no longer seemed to make sense

but the period we’re in right now is decidedly not neo-dada! you know why? because neo-dada already happened, and not during WWII but during the 60s and 70s, through artists like robert rauschenberg, yves klein, yoko ono, and nam june paik.

what was going on in the 60s and 70s that might involve “terrifying” reality and “increasingly nonsensical” coping methods? the cold war! now the cold war is in much more recent memory,

but if you wanna talk about nonsensical coping methods among millennials? i would say “lol xD so random” culture is probably the best starting point, which is definitely post-cold war (knowyourmeme is giving me 2004 as a good benchmark date).

2004 is only three years after 2001 so this resurgence of dada thinking could easily be seen as initially a reaction to 9/11, and we can then trace the antics of the bush administration, the shift of the overton window, the rise of internet culture, the 2016 election, and the current political moment as developmental factors behind this current dada moment.

so since neo-dada already happened and this is definitely its own thing with its own factors, and since a big part of our dada is the influence of the internet on modernity, i posit that we start calling this e-dada or #dada

tl;dr: neo-dada is already taken, it happened in the 60s/70s, we’re doing our own kind of dada now

e-dada
