if you have to “convince” any other person that they’re poly (or that monogomy as a concept is “improper”) so that they’ll date you, it will exclusively result in an emotionally dishonest relationship that leaves that person unhappy.
polyamory is NOT for everyone, or even for most people. if you’re going to spend your time forcing people out of their romantic comfort zones for your own selfish gain, then you don’t deserve to be in any relationship at all.
if its aight to add on as a poly person: if you’re poly and dating a monogamous person who states they wouldn’t feel comfortable with you having multiple partners, please listen to them. it’s not the end of the world for you to have a single partner. that’s the entire basis of polyamory, the comfort and communication of your partners. if you’re not going to listen to your one partner right out the gate, then what makes you think you’ll better manage multiple partners?
