the new batch of love for john mulaney here on tumblr has got me thinking how critical costume design is once again. john mulaney is a good comedian, but so much of his power comes from how his humor plays off how he’s dressed. we don’t expect a man dressed like a 1960s news announcer, all clean scrubbed and tight-wound professional, to describe in minute detail the visit where a doctor shoved a hand up his ass. imagine any iconic john mulaney set but given in jeans and a t-shirt, and is it as funny? i don’t think so. his humor spreads like wildfire on this website because the image of a man in a buttoned-up shirt and a tie and slicked back hair with fairly narrow lapels on his three-piece suit is fucking hysterical when paired with “years later I’d be in college about to go down on some rockin’ twink and i’d be like what would leonard bernstein do”
well I do recall a comedian telling about how he accidentally joined the russian mafia on a school trip in college, and this was made more believable by the fact that he was shirtless with a beer belly while telling this story

SO epicmafia and town of salem are both games where you need to figure out who is what and kill to make sure your faction wins. Ive played many games of both and im gonna compare what I believe the three most important aspects are and which one I believe is better.
Roles: Epicmafia has far more roles than town of salem has. Many of them tend to overlap or feel the same but overall it has more variety than town of salem in this regard.
Playstyle: Town of salem wins this because generally speaking, it goes a lot smoother. The days move on regardless of whether or not the players were ready. In mafia, you have to wait until everyone has selected a thing which causes the day to drag on and the activites happen very slowly.
Community: By far community is the most important part and in this regard, town of salem is the winner. The community for epicmafia is much smaller and youre bound to play with the same people several times and with a lack of anonymity during the game (anonimity in mafia is optional and rarely chosen) it can lead to grudges which messes up the game in one way or the other. Ultimately salem has a much better community.
Overall, Salem is more fun to play despite the lack of roles to be.

Throwing things at each other for no real reason? “You know this guy?” “I have no idea who this person is”? Smirking when your sibling does something cool because ‘nothing but respect for MY sibling’ and then turning around and punching each other in the face right afterward? Stabbing each other for fun and then going ‘oh come on you big baby, that didn’t even hurt’? The fucking ‘Get Help’ scene? Like bruh…that is some Truth in Hollywood right there
