I met this twerking, albino Raven named Pearl today. It is only one of four known albino Ravens in the whole world.

Pearl lives in this woman’s house. The handler has a permit, and the bird is property of the government (like hawks and falcons). She is affiliated with the California Wildlife Center. Every time the handler stopped petting Pearl she started cawing. She really likes affection.

I am starting to notice a shift from “we millenials need to remember how shitty it feels for older generations to act like we’re clueless” to “ugh man gen z really is a bunch of dipshits.”

Y'all think your professors are salty or petty? My freshman year my intro to anthropology prof overheard some dudebro say some homophobic shit and altered the entire semester’s plan to accommodate three new lectures about homophobia and gender identity and presentation in various cultures. This is to say three ADDITIONAL lectures to go with the one she already have planned.

Important addition: She changed the wallpaper on her computer to a picture her with her wife and two kids. So the first thing we saw when we came into class every day for the remainder of the semester was basically their christmas card

That ain’t salty, that’s her being my hero

Here for it! Fuck your homophobia.

hello everyone. there is a book or story that i very vaguely remember, and I’m wondering if any of you might recognize it.

what I remember is that it’s about a young boy. for some reason I feel like there’s something specific about him - like, maybe he was a black kid? or he was ‘odd’, acted strangely (maybe autistic?), something I wasn’t able to really pick up on as a kid but recognized as a Thing. I think he was either adopted, fostered, or just taken in by a different family.

one of the most prominent things I remember about the book is that he was really good at untying knots, and there was something about The Biggest Knot in the World or something.

i remember a scene where he had mashed potatoes (for the first time?) and thought they looked a lot like clouds, and I cant remember if he enjoyed them or if they kinda fucked him up for some reason, like he just got really into the whole ‘they’re clouds’ thing and it made him feel weird…?

there was also an ‘other side of the tracks’, like a bad side of town, and it’s another thing that makes me vaguely think it had something to do with race. there was a man, homeless i think, who ended up befriending the kid. i cant remember anything they did or talked about, but i feel like… something sad happened. or maybe i was just sad ‘cause the man was an older, homeless character, and he was gruff but nice. i cant remember if something bad happens to him but for some reason ‘bittersweet’ is a word that i feel describes the story well.

that’s a really weird little assortment of vague details but any of y’all know what tf im talkin’ about? i feel like i read this either For school or just In school, idk if it was required reading. Woulda been sometime in late elementary or very early middle school, probably.

A short PSA on those Cat Ear Headphones

demonicae:

newleafwiki:

So I was at the mall today wearing my cat ear headphones (Which are amazing and you should get them if u can find them in ur price range, i got mine second hand for $30) and someone called them “Ariana Grandes” which is v annoying to me because Ariana Grande did not design them.

Yes, there are versions that are sponsored by Ariana (the silver ones which have her signature on the side) but the original ones, and the design overall was created by an artist named Wenqing Yan / Yuumei (here’s her website). Websites like buzzfeed have miscredited Ariana with making them (buzzfeed has since added a tiny adendum to their article that clarifies she is the creator but still didnt change the original article lauding Ariana as some sort of genius).

She really really deserves the credit here as being a v talented artist.

So anyway TL;DR: These headphones were made by Wenqing Yan / Yuumei (sold by axent wear) not Ariana. Artists deserve credit for their work.

This might be old news to some ppl but its still annoying.

To be fair, the Edison bit isn’t wrong: he also nicked other people’s ideas and passed them off as his own.
