Today at work came an order for a print on a mug, client asking to print “1488” on it. So I sent him back this.
Wow, notes to this post are a wild ride. But, to clarify few things: 1) yes, he is a nazi. He literally used cropped out banner from a neo nazi site as a referance for the way he wanted numbers to look. Quick google search led me directly to the page he took the picture from 2) he took his order (which he was paying for after reciving the mug, not paying for it beforehead), which I’m honestly going to believe happened due him freaking out and not having guts to complaing and demend changing it 3) nope, I did not get fired. I do shit ton of work here, both majority of photo editing and souvenir production, so no one will be giving me shit for one “mistake” 4) yes, I could’ve just refused making his order and didn’t do anything at all. But, firstly, fuck nazis, and if he got pissed off when he first saw his new pretty mug I’m glad, either way, he paid for it, so there’s no loss for our company. And, secondary, he made the order literally few days prior Voctory Day, which is one of the most important holidays in Russia and if you don’t see the issue in it… Yikes? Also for these going on about “unprofessional thing to do, should’ve served them no matter the misguided beliefs :\”, go fuck yourself maybe :\
Seems like only yesterday we were both little girls wishing our fairy tale dreams…and tonight they’re finally coming true!
I love Charlotte and Tiana so much (and Charlotte’s dad, honestly) because very rarely could a mixed-race friendship like this work back then, even with small children, much less carry over into adulthood. The fact that Charlotte’s dad not only let Charlotte be friends with the daughter of someone who worked for him, a girl from a relatively poor family, but a black girl, and never taught Charlotte to hide her love for Tiana is amazing to me. And Charlotte, as spoiled as she is, never hesitates to put Tiana first.
And sharing clothes with Tiana??? Doing so publicly, at a party, knowing everyone would know the blue dress Tiana was wearing belonged to Charlotte? Huge deal. HUGE. People would be making snide comments about Charlotte and no doubt her dad for months after that in real life. But Charlotte didn’t care. She didn’t care that she went to a predominantly black neighborhood and was visibly affectionate with her working-class black friend in front of everybody, she didn’t care about sharing clothes with her, or hugging her at the end, even though it could’ve ruined her social standing.
Charlotte loves Tiana. And I’ve always liked that because too often the privileged, popular friend makes the choice to snub their less-popular, less-privileged friend at some point. Charlotte never does. And she probably put up with a lot of s***, too.
Yeah, I was waiting for the heel turn till the end of the third act to be honest, but it never came.
Please understand that they gave a 33% tip, in cash instead of on a card, to increase the odds that the server could keep all of it.
What they mean by ‘taxation is theft’ is that servers are taxed on the ASSUMPTION that they will be tipped. If they don’t make those tips, they get taxed on them anyway. It is literally theft. By leaving cash and not writing it on the receipt, they’ve allowed the server the option of quietly slipping that 20 into their pocket and therefore not being taxed on it.
This is how to ensure servers get more money and have a liveable standard of living. How ever the server also has to be aware that they also have to put enough cash upforward to make at least 8-15% (20% in my restaurant if you want to keep your job) So you can go under the guise that you’re making your money. And it won’t be considered “theft” so to who ever did this. Bless your heart. -sincerely a bartender/server
