what if Adam and Eve weren’t inherently pure and good when they were first made, but were more like animals in that they could do horrible nasty things without a conscience, and learning about good and evil only just made them have a moral compass which made them less likely to be the war criminals that otters are
also if someone were to try to argue “well in the Garden of Eden all animals were peaceful”

i mean thats not far off. adam was made to stroke gods evil and eve was made to stroke adams dick because lilith had self respect and didnt need adam OR god. before the apple, they were basically animals serving a single function
death the kid is such a… weird character. i cant think of another character like him because he’s so weird. like, he’s the son of the grim reaper with horrible ocd and perfectionism issues and also he dresses like a preppy goth in full tuxedo but he also rides a skateboard named beelzebub and does cool tricks on it whenever presented the opportunity also he has guns. none of those character traits sound like they belong to the same person. hes somehow both the coolest and lamest character in the show.
I don’t think we talk enough about how, despite the presence of multiple globes, PotC takes place on a flat earth, ice wall included.

But also there’s a globe on, like, everyone’s desk.
See, part of the conceit of the PotC trilogy is that all myths are true. Nearly every supernatural element in the franchise has a root in some real world mythology or pirate lore, although some of them are mashed together.
Another thing is that they take place at the end of the Golden Age of Piracy, and the more the map gets filled in, and the more the Royal Navy takes power, there less room there is for the mystical and supernatural in the world. This is explicitly called out in At World’s End with the death of the kraken:
Barbossa: The world used to be a bigger place. Jack: The world’s still the same. There’s just… less in it.
The only way to access the world of the supernatural is through the supernatural itself. You can only get to the Isla de Muerta with Jack’s compass that points to whatever you desire, or if you already know where its is. You need Tia Dalma’s map to find the edge of the world. To access the supernatural, you need to already be immersed in it.
The pirates world isn’t flat, it’s round - but because the edge of the world exists in myth, it therefore exists in reality. The pirates are able to find it through supernatural means, but if, say, someone like Norrington just sailed in the same general direction, he wouldn’t end up in the same place.
“Pirate” is a mage subclass fueled by word of mouth, rule of cool, The Power of Belief/Love/Friendship, and rum.

“Brainwashing” as a concept was invented by Edward Hunter, a CIA-funded writer, to explain away why US troops captured by communist forces during the Korean War were so amenable to their Evil Totalitarian Captors. It definitely wasn’t that they were treated well (far better than the US treated its captives); with POWs allowed to cook their own food, organise sports competitions, and one black soldier even allowed to travel to Beijing to attend university - a privilege he wouldn’t have had back home - nor could it have been that any of these people saw any truth in communist theory. No, the real explanation must be that the communists had developed some nefarious means of controlling peoples’ minds, the same technology which they must have used on their own people to make them all support communism so wholeheartedly!

My great grandfather was a Russian POW during WWII. He was sent to the gulag.
He was one of the “lucky” ones.
He got back.
The amount of FUCKERY his subsequent behaviour caused my grandmother, and therefore my father and yes, therefore ME cannot be overstated. Like. Encanto gives a teeeny tiny idea of what generational trauma is.
The reality is fucking worse.
He was tortured. He was broken. He behaved so atrociously that my great grandmother, a woman in a country with no divorce, had to leave him with 4 children, 3 of whom young to very young.
I won’t go into the details. But the trauma of that lived in his daughter behaviour toward her son, and in his grandson my father.
DON’T. Come to me. And. Praise the URSS treatment of POW.
