the thing that bothers me about the McDonald’s sauce business, as someone who’s worked fast food before, is that corporate completely shat the bed and put the health and safety of their minimum wage workers on the line for the sake of some publicity for their company that is already a household name
let’s be real here, while the behavior of the fans of Rick and Morty is disgusting, the idea that these restaurant chains knew that the supply wouldn’t meet the demand that over a year of hype had caused and then made their employees, who typically aren’t making enough to live day to day, deal with it, without telling anyone, “hey, there’s only about twenty promotional sauces here, you’re going to deal with having to turn a lot of people away”
that wasn’t the advertising campaign, that wasn’t “hey we’re only going to have a very, very, very small limited amount of sauce available,” it wasn’t “hey, you have a chance of winning this sauce by purchasing our product and we’ll fucking mail it to you or something,” it was “hey, fuck it, we’ll make them give it away to about twenty people and then deal with thousands more”
how is that a good business practice? how is that nothing but cruel for your employees? how is that good pr, even?
to be fair you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick & Morty, were above other people, smarter, nihilistic, rational… probably the most intelligent people on earth tbh *burns a McDonald’s to the ground for not having a sauce packet*
were above consumerism and being sheeple *drives 150 miles to a mcdonalds for a sauce theyve never had because a cartoon said it was good once*
I was working as an intern for an animation studio. My
duties were all about writing and proofreading, I had no skills or duties about
graphic stuff. I can do some things with GIMP and have some very, VERY minimal Photoshop skills for
simple tasks.
Client: Wait, why can’t we simply give this job to
her?
Boss: Well, she’s not a graphic.
Client: Don’t try to cheat me! I can see she has a
graphic software right there.
For good twenty minutes, me and my boss BOTH tried to explain
him I wasn’t qualified for that work – work that for sure he couldn’t have done
with GIMP. The best part?
Client: Fine, I suppose I should meet your guy, then.
But I’d prefer her.
Me/ Boss: But why?
Client: She’s an intern! I could have this done
for free!
Maaaaaaaan…why Rick and Morty fans gotta be like this? Why do they have to ruin the show?
A show about a super intelligent asshole telling everyone else they are pieces of shit, and you expected the fans to be good people?
Either Harmon is going double down on this (I doubt it, he seems like a bang up person) or he’s going to shun this fuckery next series and people are going to be butthurt.
What really pisses me off is how hard the show works to tell you that Rick isn’t a good person, that Morty is basically his conscience (and also more than a little fucked up), that literally everything he does is completely self-serving in some way, and yet people look up to him because he’s smart. The entire show is a huge play on the idea that being intelligent makes you somehow better than others, and how it really doesn’t, but everybody completely misses out on that core message because the think they see themselves in Rick.
I am Silver Tongue, I am an artist. I have many characters and you can check out my art in the art tag. I occasionally practice witchcraft though I don't do anything too complicated. I am girl 2 and don't know what else to put here.
