There was a lovely film made in 1935, starring Errol Flynn and Olivia de Haviland, called Captain Blood. It is the story of a doctor convicted of treason for medically treating a member of the Monmouth Rebellion. His punishment is to be sent to Port Royal as a slave. He escapes and becomes a pirate on the high seas, who forms a curious democratic brotherhood with his crew.
In the film, men are compensated for their service by being paid a portion of the booty. There is a sliding scale based upon injuries received- if a man loses an arm he received x, and a leg, y, and so forth. In one scene, the resident miscreant and liar decides that he will shoot himself in the foot to gain the slight boost in his salary. He shoots off his pinky toe.
When he goes up to collect his earnings, the first officer admonishes him: “You should’ve shot out your brains and left your toe for thinking with”
Stupid men think they are being clever. They almost always shoot themselves in the foot.
Let it go man, it’s not worth it, they’re just posers.
I’m gonna be honest… I’m not sure I get it. Are the guys on the right part of the game? Maybe a different branch of Team Skull? Or if they’re jacking Team Skull’s style, why are they acting snobby? Or is it a case of two groups having the same idea and both refusing to give it up, even if they look like knock offs?
