like, it was originally optioned by dreamworks in like 1997, and tim allen was to star in a screenplay that he wrote that he described like so:

we’ll see very little of the cat. He’s a human being who turns into the
cat — like a werewolf or vampire — as he gets more and more frustrated
trying to deal with these children.”
i’m pretty sure that the universe attempted to prevent this nightmare by replacing it with another timeline’s cat in the hat movie, only for that to backfire spectacularly
