Imo I dont really like flashbacks. It feels really nice if the movie allows the audience to understand the backstory without just slamming it on the screen. Plus its just a cheap way to explain things visually. Granted there are always exceptions.

Movies are SHOW don’t tell. So if they do a Flashback it’s because they’re showing you, rather than telling you.
if you don’t get flashbacks and all exposition is revealed through a character outright saying it, then you get movies like the live action last airbender.
Show don’t tell is the first rule of writing. Second rule is actions speak louder than words.
