hey remember that law i forget exactly how it goes but its something along the lines of ‘if you murder someone you go to jail’ whatever happened to that? is that still a thing

You can legally shoot to kill if to prevent a sexual assault, in case of a home invasion to protect your property and if you need to protect your life, these are very common laws, not worldwide, but it many places.
But USA has a stand-your-ground law, so there is that.
Except when there’s a no warrant assault in the middle of the night that involves an officer coming through your window in stealth gear. Then it’s your fault if you shoot and kill him. I mean, it’s not like it’s hard to see and some person just broke into your home brandishing deadly weapons.
