Raise Awareness

Eating disorders are not a trend or to get attention.

Eating disorders are actual diseases that are very serious and need medical and psychological attention.

I wanna know why every time somebody says they’re fat or chubby, everybody responds with “no you’re not!!! you’re beautiful!!”

like

that’s part of the problem

why can’t you be fat and beautiful

Saying these things automatically implies that fat really is a bad thing.

Saying these things says that fat is synonymous with “ugly” or “undesirable” or just plain bad in the way only “fat” can be

Which it isn’t true

And I know people don’t mean to do it, don’t mean to imply these things, and it’s not their fault. They’re just trying to make somebody feel better, I get that. They’re only trying to help. The problem is society and how it ingrains into us these things

Having “fat” isn’t a bad thing

Being “fat” isn’t a bad thing

Being “skinny” isn’t a bad thing

A body type, or an amount of fat in a body does not weigh your beauty

Even saying to people who are average or thin “you’re not fat! you’re gorgeous” carries the threat of but if you were

Saying this stuff still perpetuates the idea that fat = bad

It doesn’t matter if you’re “bigger” or “fat” or whatever you want to say

It doesn’t matter if you’re fat because that’s just your body structure and you cannot change it

It doesn’t matter if you’re fat because you don’t exercise/eat right and your body is easily influence by those sort of things

It doesn’t matter if you’re fat and always have been

It doesn’t matter if you’re fat because for some reason you suddenly gained weight

It doesn’t matter if you want to lose weight

It doesn’t matter if you don’t want to change your weight

It doesn’t matter if you honestly don’t care either way

It doesn’t matter if you’re a size 26 and fat

It doesn’t matter if you’re a size 3 and fat

It doesn’t matter if you love your body

It doesn’t matter if you hate it

It doesn’t matter if you have no opinion, and/or are neutral

The amount of space you take up in the universe doesn’t matter

The kinds of cells that take up space in your body don’t matter (unless you’ve got cancer or something,  in which case go get some care, love, if you can)

Fat, skinny, average, whatever, they’ll just adjectives to describe what you look like. like “blonde” or “brown-eyed”

They describe you, not define you

Instead of telling people they’re not fat, say “what if you were? you’re still beautiful”

Before you try convince someone that they aren’t fat, challenge why that’s a bad thing

So think about that. Why would fat or being fat be a bad thing? Well, honey, the only thing I can think of is that some people will have a problem with it, the same way some people have an issue with race or sexuality or gender. They’re bigots, and life has so more to it than bigots’ opinions, so you keep rocking that awesome bod.

Babe, you’re gonna be beautiful regardless of your body size, weight, or fat content.
