Hmm. Odd choices for cameos in my comics? Well, as I mentioned before, I respect women, and if I were to write comics, what I would write would presumably reflect that. Who would I pick for a cameo? An acquaintance who also respects women and also creates works that reflect such?

No, that would be completely appropriate. If I wanted to pick an odd and unfitting choice for a cameo, I would pick someone with a complete disrespect for women, people who do respect women, and creates works that reflect such to a degree that even the most right-wing political cartoonist would blush.

Perhaps we’re at cross-purposes here, Mr. Dawson. I do respect women. My wife (for I have one) would probably have some cutting things to say to me if I didn’t. My own mother brought me up pretty much single-handed, I witnessed some less-than-stellar treatment she had at the hands of various men and I respect her too.

Ted Anderson doesn’t ‘respect’ women. He fawns at third-wave feminists, who offer huge disrespect for men and women who don’t entirely agree with everything they say and do. He is a male who subscribes to misanthropy, and probably the sort of attitude that says you can’t offer an opinion on racism if you’re white or it’s impossible to have suffered from discrimination if you’re cis.

I like women, and I think everyone has the right to have whatever opinion they wish to have (including Ted), and pursue the life they want to so long as it is not bringing harm to others. The people I have a problem with want to tell me what I’m allowed to say, what I’m not allowed to laugh at, what I’m allowed to do and think. They want to replace a non-existent patriarchy with what would be the most authoritarian mind-policing junta that is possible to imagine. Mockery takes the wind out of their sails, and I will continue to do so as long as it’s possible for me to do so.
