Think about this the next time you even dare suggest an artist lower their prices.

Me when people at cons say $5 sketches are ‘too expensive’ or are upset that I now charge $10 for full figures.

Honestly I have never seen a tumblr artists’ commission prices and thought “too expensive.” I understand it’s a fan community, but when the average retoucher charges 100$/hour and artists are charging like, 20$ max for like a FULL COLOURED THING PERSON THING??? i’m like WHAT??? I CAN”T EVEN FUCKING DRAW A BLOB that would take me 500 years why is it 20$ and i just sit there bein glike. so. what if i bought 20. or whatever.

the point is I think tumblr should look at creative services and what they charge. I shot casual grad photos as a favour for someone and it was 70$/30 minutes. FANDOM ARTISTS ARE GIVING IT TO YOU EASY LSKDJFLSDKJ give them your money as fast as you can i don’t think this is sustainable nad you should get it while stocks last.

please remember that tipping someone when you commission them is absolutely something you can do! artists have to set their prices to what the market average is on this site (which is woefully low) so tipping an extra £5 or £10 can really help. consider it next time you commission someone.

Because, SERIOUSLY. Like, yeah, nowadays I don’t depend on commissions that much, and mostly take them for fun and extra moneys so I can buy some additional stuff I like.

But really making a living out of commissions is freaking hard because of the ridiculous price standards in the community. Hell, I guess there’s a lot of possibilities to make more money doing some work as a cashier, cleaner, re-writer, etc. And it can even be less difficult and time-consuming than drawing. And I kinda can see why artists often give up on drawing and just take another job, so drawing becomes only a hobby for them, and the amount of content they create decreases.

It’s a fail-fail situation - artists don’t do what they wanna do, and you get less content.

So, yeah, do you want pretty arts? Support the artists! Commissions, patreon, donations - everything helps! And feedback is important too, of course C:

И когда я в рунете вижу нытье в духе “100 рублей за полноценную картинку это ДОРОГО” - я хочу рассмеяться в лицо таким людям. А потом отвесить хорошего пинка.

Потому что именно из-за такого отношения индустрия в полной заднице.

Дополню краткий перевод — профессиональные сервисы берут 100 баксов в час. Художники за рубежом берут 20 баксов за полноценный рисунок. Вы жалуетесь, что 100-200-300 рублей за полноценный рисунок это слишком много

Так что юр.-заказчики > зарубежных фандом-заказчиков > планктона > вас

Правда, у нас целевая аудитория коммишенов, по-моему, несколько иная. В основном заказываю рисунки школьники\цы, у которых в общем не очень-то много денег. Принципиальный момент с ними в том, что одни говорят “Ой, у меня столько нет, извините, я накоплю и закажу\поищу что-то себе по карману”, а другие начинают стандартную басню про “Почему так дорого? У Васи дешевле. И вообще столько брать за рисунок нельзя, он того не стоит! Азазазаа!!!111”

Брони постарше обычно адекватно реагируют на цены и иногда даже накидывают немного сверх установленного.

Ну и ах да, ещё одна проблема с этим - большинство хороших русских художников (по крайней мере, в пони-фандоме) устанавливают слишком низкие цены за свои рисунки. Сами. Из-за этого ситуации “У Васи дешевле” возникают намного чаще. Ребят, плиз, не стесняйтесь поднимать цены. Ну то есть я не призываю прям делать полноценку за тыщу р. (хотя некоторые крутые ребята заслуживают и больше), но хотя бы не надо делать полнорост с фоном за 50 рублей, если вы рисуете на хорошем уровне.

По-моему, если все дружно будут адекватно оценивать свой труд - условный “рынок” коммишей станет  намного более продуктивным и приятным.
