I don’t know if this has been said before, but aside from all the bleeding taxidermy and axe-headed, vengeful lumberjack ghosts, one thing really disturbed me.

THIS.

This is extremely similar to the most famous example of classical conditioning, where a dog would be given food at the same time a bell was rung. Eventually the dog would associate the bell’s ringing with food and salivate.

But in Pacifica’s case, she friggin’ goes quiet and obeys every time the bell is rang. This implies the bell had been used for a long time to control her, and that she associates it with negativity; most likely punishment or humiliation, given her family’s ways. It’s bad enough her parents expect her to be picture perfect despite their family’s tarnished history, but conditioning her like an animal and forcing her to change who she is and what she likes, for the sake of their family name, is somehow more disturbing that bleeding taxidermy will ever be for me.

I know we’re all freaking out about the laptop but I’m woried about what will happen to Pacifica once the party is over.

It was very graphic and I’m still really bothered by the lack of response from Dipper’s end.

My headcanon is that they used to ring the bell and put her in a cold, silent dark room when she acted outside of what they approve.
