friendly reminder that in psychology school people are taught that anger is a secondary emotion, so next time you make someone mad, remember that it’s because they were originally hurt or upset

This makes a lot of sense.

1. no it’s not

2. “psychology school”

Lmfao what the fuck is this? Some bullshit to avoid acknowledging you made someone upset? Cause that is exactly what it looks like

the models of emotions that are usually taught in psychology classes and courses teach anger as a primary emotion and hurt/upset as secondary or tertiary emotions to anger or sadness. i haven’t seen a model where hurt or upset are primary emotions and anger is secondary. it might exist, but that is not what’s being taught in most courses.

im not saying that the models are 100% correct and not up for debate or revision, but saying that anger is regularly taught to be a secondary emotion is just not true.
