Debunks all those arguments that say eating healthy is too expensive.

governmentnamedeactivated2015

Where the fuck do you live where a pound of chicken breast is 98 cents

cankrist

Eating healthy is still less expensive than regular fast food

blackfemalepresident

probably an upper middle class neighborhood. food is less expensive in fancy neighborhoods

healthy foods are not this cheap in the hood and im so tired of middle class white people acting like healthy eating is cheap & simple

come down to the “scary” part of town and shop for food and your perspective will change on some shit

s1uts

This whole post is bullshit and these prices are exaggerated af

howtobeafuckinglady

chicken breast by themselves are like almost 10 dollars wtf is this trash

Next time I go to the grocery store, I’m going to get the actual prices on all this stuff. You haven’t been able to eat “healthy” foods that cheap since the early 90′s.

Reblogging from self, yay! I made good on my threat and went to the grocery store. I chose items off the second “for about $20.00″ list. All of the items pictured are the cheapest I could find in the store (which is one of only two grocery stores in Wenatchee, unless you count WalMart, which is way on the other end of town). The nearest store is a ten-mile, fifteen minute drive from my house; getting to the WalMart is more like thirty.

96% lean ground beef not available

Price of broccoli was per pound, not per crown. The smallest I could find weighed a little over two pounds.

This is 8 ounces of cashews, not 16. 16 not available.

Total: $37.79

In summation: Bullshit. This post is bullshit, and I call bullshit on it.

I’m not a junk food eater myself, but I also don’t eat “healthy”, because I can’t afford it. This particular shopping trip would have taken over a quarter of my monthly budget, and kept me fed for less than a week. Imagine trying to feed a family like that. It’s not possible, unless you starve them all.

Before i even scrolled down, i was hollerin’.

^^^^^^^^^^^All of this!!!!! I’m vegan and I have to use coupons for dear life in order to feed myself, let alone if I had a family of 3 or more people. Yes it’s cheaper than eating fast food everyday, but people need to stop pushing this false narrative that healthy eating is easily accessible for everybody because it’s not.

I don’t know where y’all live but them prices are not in my area.

PLUS let’s say you find those prices AND can access them (having a grocery store in your city is not the same thing as being able to get to it and haul stuff back from it).  You’re assuming a place to store perishables, equipment and utensils and power/water to cook, time to prep and cook, and the physical ability and energy to prep and cook.  There are so many more barriers than just the cost and location of the food itself and there’s frequently as much ableism as classism.

Bruh, when people with average diets AND vegans are working together to debunk your post, you know what you said is bullshit.

Now, I’m all for people giving alternatives but I do not condone straight up lying.

Fuck OP. You’re a piece of shit. and you’re need to express your diet in a way that makes you seem better than everyone else is just shit.
