Did anyone notice that the books and movies that Connie introduces to Steven have badass non-objectified female characters in leading roles? And that this is never seen as weird or a novelty for books or blockbuster films? And that Steven loves them completely and utterly? And that NO characters on the show EVER object to them or dismiss them as “girl stuff’?

I love this show for so many reasons and that’s part of it. That plus Steven is never ever ever seen as less of a person even though he has so many stereotypically ‘feminine’ qualities. I mean, he’s got a pink gem, is the most emotionally sensitive and empathetic character on the show, loves cheesy romantic happy endings, etc. But he’s still important and valued for all that.

The compete lack of sexism in the series is such a breath of fresh air.

That and the positive representation is good. there are many fat characters who are highly respected and many POC who are very important.

The most beautiful character, rose quartz, is fat, and the most fan loved character, garnet would not only be considered a woman of colour but also at least homosexual or asexual depending on how you look at it.
