Posts about how writers who work with artists don’t deserve as much praise or pay.

I’ve seen posts about how writers are “just writing” and shouldn’t get commissions.

I’ve even gotten hate for briefly pondering getting commissions for small drabbles.

Let’s face one simple fact.

You only give a fuck about writers when we do shit for free.

Writers do as much work as any other artist. Just. As. Much.

We struggle just as much with getting exposure. We struggle just as hard at word choice as an artist does at shading. We fight just as much with plotlines as artists do with sketch lines.

Writers are not something to be put behind a less-than sign.

People seem really good at demanding fanfiction, they seem really good at demanding their favorite pairings their way. And they seem just as good as getting mad when writers actually want some praise or recognition for it.

Think for a minute if all fanfiction writers, if all authors period, just stopped writing. Imagine you woke up tomorrow and every fanfiction website was empty, every single story and drabble GONE.

You people would throw a fit and a half.

So the next time you get some stupid thought in your head that writing is not an art, and that writers are not artists?

Then ponder this:

If its so fucking easy, go do it yourself and stop crying for us to do it instead.
