/tv/ on Sherlock

One of the few times I applaud 4chan.
I’ll make the argument that Sherlock is better than Elementary (I like the RDJ movies the best of the current ones, though) because there’s no reason to have for Elementary to be Sherlock Holmes. Their version of Sherlock just seems too normal. Hell, Bones has more of a reason to be Sherlock, and it’s not. This makes it feel like Elementary just used the name Sherlock Holmes to get popularity. Now Sherlock in Sherlock is much weirder, to the point where his only reframing value is to be the best director of all time. And I’ll excuse the poor characters as the show’s pain isn’t to be gritty or realistic or clever; it’s about having fun. I don’t go into a Fast and Furious movie expected Citizen Kane, and I don’t watch Sherlock Holmes to see another American crime drama. So, while I see why people dislike Sherlock and that the show Sherlock isn’t objectively good, that isn’t the point. But RDJ is best Holmes, today.
You realize Elementary is “normal” is because it’s a realistic modernization, right? That show has way more character development than Sherlock’s inconsistent changes ever will. Guess what, minor characters aren’t thrown to the wayside in Elementary like in Sherlock. It’s not gonna be some over the top Barracuda Cucumber and his queer baiting accomplice because Elementary doesn’t make the mistake of Hollywood-izing Sherlock for the modern era.
