We’ll ban you if you leave!

@OMGitsBluePanda We can tell the difference between a disconnect, and a leave now.

As most people know, the Town of Salem staff feels that leaving a game for nearly any reason is a bannable offense. I guess they haven’t heard of switching off your wireless or pulling out the ethernet cable to evade the potential ban.

From what I can tell, there will be a system to allow for accidental disconnects, such as wifi mess-ups and that. It (and don’t quote me on this) may be something along the lines of an X amount of leaves ‘allowed’ within X time-frame.
If you go over that, or you leave within the first day or two, this goes to the mods and it’s up to them to judge whether or not it’s malicious or just dodgy internet.

If you DC because of internet, you shouldn’t be punished, and even then, there’s a way to appeal bans.
It’s if you’re the type of person who leaves on the first night because you don’t like your role, that’s who they’re punishing.

Okay but what if you have to leave? As in leave your house? Would that be bannable too?

I’m not entirely sure what you mean… If you leave the game for any reason midgame, then yes. If you have to leave your laptop/computer for whatever reason and it really can’t wait till the end of the game, just don’t close the game - an afk person is less harmful than a leaver. Worst that can happen is you get lynched.

As I said, there’s a small leeway and if you fall under that I doubt they’ll pay you much attention.

You can report people who leave D1/N1 as it is - I don’t know how it works exactly, but I’m guessing if they get the report of a person leaving at the beginning of a game for no reason multiple times then they’ll lay out sanctions on the person.

Does it count if you leave after you’re dead and you’re a non town role?
