Not gonna lie, every time someone told me I charged too much in my early days of commission work I’d spend days questioning my self worth, comparing myself to -every single artist- I saw doing commission work as both a competitor and someone who is leagues above me. It was depressing and it undermined what little pride I had in my skill.
Nowdays, if someone tells me that I charge too much I laugh. Because if someone wants a personal artwork, 3+ contact hours of discussion and deliberation, constant updates and WIP’s, for less than minimum wage they can eat an entire ass.
