What I like about this the best is that they LITERALLY WAITED UNTIL THE VERY LAST SECOND TO REVEAL IT. Basically forcing you to form your opinion of him based on his personality and characteristics, instead of his sexuality.

And that was the point to his character, whenever I get someone try to give me “He isn’t real representation, he’s a punchline” I let them know that the punchline is her ignorance in assuming he was straight based off his attributes. This was a film that deals with how we treat people we view are different and how that affects everyone involved. They knew what they were doing, and they did it wonderfully. Still my favorite Laika film.
