Can we all take a moment to appreciate that Taylor Swift has more female superheroes in one four-minute video than Marvel has female characters in six two hour+ movies?

jestre

No, because there’s more in the comics.

bp-amy

there is a shit ton in the comics, all these “marvel fans” that havent read any comics bitching about the movies. do ya research people

jestre

There’s a reason the Marvel and DC logos are flipping through comics.

jurgan

How does the fact that there are female characters in the comics excuse the fact that very few have made it into the movies?

jestre

Comics > Hollywood

jurgan

Not really. It’s unlikely most comics will get more than 100,000 readers, but millions of people see the movies. So representation matters there, too.

jestre

Tell that to all of the artists and writers and otherwise followed across the internet who do things right. That’s where the representation starts. If their voice is supported loudly, they can make the movies how they should be.

The only time Hollywood can fully do better is when there isn’t a popular base for it. A shitload of stuff was missing in the Percy Jackson movies, yete that doesn’t stop us from preferring the books. with others, like Frozen (ick), there IS no source comic/ book/ folk tale. The only people questioning missing events are the people who pitched storyline ideas. Without books, the movies wouldn’t exist.

no comics= no movies. no movies= still plenty of good comics

Actually, Frozen is based on The Snow Queen.

silver-tongues-blog

Actually, frozen is a sort of sequel to snow queen. There’s something about a mirror that causes the curse of shattered sight and elsas and annas mother had two siblings, one was the snow queen and one was killed by her while she got in the way from an ice blast directed to the duke of weasleton and she was sealed and the rock trolls used really powerful magic to remove both sibilings from history.

But yeah, frozen is a sequel to snow queen
