And he didn’t even get that happiness.   No matter which timeline you look at, his fate is lousy–either he’s killed by Ganondorf in battle, vanishes completely, or after saving Hyrule and Termina, he has so much emotional baggage that he becomes the Hero’s Shade after his death and can’t cross over.

OUCH

And he didn’t keep his fairy for very long.
