Rumple had gone very dark, Like so dark he was known as the dark one, to keep his son from  being killed in the ogre wars. His wife, Milah didn’t approve and neither did baelfire for that matter. Milah had run off with a pirate and rumple thoguht her dead for the longest time. He just ran and hid with bael. Bael and him made a pact to run to a world with no magic when he realized how corrupted he had become but when bael jumped through the portal, he was to afraid to move on. In his persuit to reach the realm with bae, he found Milah was alive and happy without him. He was a coward and wanted to run from the truth just like he ran from everyhitng else. He blamed her and killed her. He had lost everything. His wife was dead and he had no way to reach his son. He was willing to let the dakness consume him. He began to make deals with people to gain magical and material objects to fill the void in his soul and one woman in particular showed the courage he lacked. The willingness to sacrifice her life for the kingdom. She accepted to go with him and be his servant. She saw a light in him that even he couldn’t see. Even in the darkest times, she still deeply cared about him. Then the green bitch came in and fucked shit up. The wicked bitch tried to have rumple kill belle. Rumple realized he was still under the influence of the dagger and needed to break the curse. In his efforts to break the curse, he was consumed once again.  And this time, belle did what she felt necessary to protect him, her and storybrook. Feeling betrayed, Rumples heart literally broke and the darkness was seeping in to places it shouldn’t have, killing rumple. He managed to stall it and return to storybrook though where the darkness within was removed. Now there is no more dark one in him, just runmple. THe rumple that Belle saw. So if anything, the new season will have the strongest rumbelle yet.
