Other peoples’ culture is not your fashion. So before you put it on, do your research and ask yourself a few important questions to know if you’re disrespecting other.

you guys. you guys. i love this so much. but oprah was literally in india when she wore that. the organizers gifted it to her. know the difference between cultural appropriation and cultural sharing.

They don’t consider that bad in India at all. So I don’t know why that’s up there. Believe it or not, they like seeing other cultures enjoy their culture.

Asian umbrellas and chopstick hairstyles also are not racist or bad. The same for the fucking  conical hat (that’s worn to protect against the sun you idiots). It’s like saying Japanese people can’t wear cowboy hats.

And before people start talking about Kimonos.

As for the ‘islamic’ attire; . did you know that those predate islam? People wore it for a lot of reasons in a lot of different cultures. So no one culture owns this type of clothing style (veils, face covers, etc). In fact, technically, Muslims culturally appropriated this style of clothing from  Byzantine Christians so I mean, really… stop talking about this. And you can’t culturally appropriate a religion, either (Indian/Islam).

Pretty much the only ‘cultural appropriation’ going on in this post is wearing native american war bonnets.
