I don’t normally comment on political stuff, but this whole “Reblog to protect our Copyright laws” thing sounds… Incredibly fishy.
Like, I don’t even need to do any research to know this simple fact: Our copyright laws are the way they are because companies like Disney, Universal, basically any company that makes a creative medium, has poured MILLIONS OF DOLLARS into making sure the Copyright laws benefit them, the creators, as much as possible for as long as possible.
So you’re telling me, that Congress is going to introduce a NEW law, that retroactively changes all previous Copyright laws, makes it easier for the common person to use Mickey Mouse for commercial profit without Disney’s approval, and will easily take away everyone and anyone’s characters or properties that they made if they haven’t done anything with them recently, can’t provide a “Proof of creation” evidence/date, and that you didn’t go down to your copyright office to file an official copyright notice for?
…No, no somehow I don’t think that’s going to happen. Even if it’s a possible bill being contemplated on the table, it’s a bill that corporations that even remotely and minutely care about their intellectual properties even in the slightest, tiniest bit, will fight to get rid of pretty much right away.
And that’s more power than any single individual reblog would ever have. So yeah, I’m not convinced that some “Mythical monster bill” is coming to take away our copyrights or some nonsense like that.
Just saying.
