I’ve come to realize a lot of my favourite pokémon are bipedal with a tail.
Ampharos, Breloom, Exploud, Grumpig, Gengar, Electabuzz, Abomasnow…
I mean, I have to admit, it’s a pretty basic body shape, and seems pretty common. Especially among starters: it seems like 3 out of 4 starter families have at least one bipedal tailed evolution.

You misunderstand. I didn’t say 1 out of 4 gens don’t have a bipedal tailed starter, I said 1 out of 4 starter families don’t have a bipedal tailed evolution.
So that would be the Venusaur line, the Meganium line, the Typhlosion line, the Torterra line and the Greninja Line. None of those lines have bipedal tailed pokémon in them. All the other starter families do.
