Silver Tongue

loosescrewslefty:

I don’t think we talk enough about the fact that it was Queen Butterfly who chose this guy to help raise her daughter. She could have gotten Star a nanny or a governess, and it would have been far more proper, but instead she decided that Mr. ‘Teach-a-Toddler-to-snap-a-Teddy’s-neck’ was the right one to help watch after and teach Star. In fact, I’d even go as far as to wonder if maybe Queen Butterfly specifically asked him to make sure Star knew how to fight. Because I don’t buy for one second that the Queen didn’t realize her Princess was learning fighting techniques from somewhere, or that she wouldn’t have put a stop to it in a heartbeat if she didn’t want it happening.

What if Queen Butterfly was attacked herself at some point in her youth (Toffee, maybe?), and wasn’t able to fight them off without her wand, and so she wanted to make sure something similar didn’t happen to Star? But she wasn’t counting on Star relishing in violence as much as she does, or that she would actively seek out monsters to fight rather then just using her skills for self defense?

Also I demand we learn this guard’s name.

My theory is that she had a sister who she watched die and the queens sister was the spade.
