and im gonna preface this with this is not a personal attack but what you said is so so incorrect and i really hope you understand why after reading this. and this is also to any other cis followers i have.

first off, transphobia is not just about hatred. it can be fetishization, othering, ‘pity’, etc. its not always even conscious. you can be transphobic while loving all people.

second off, literally every damn person raised in this society has a degree of transphobia in them because of all the shit thrown at us by a hugely transphobic world, especially cis people

trans people have internalized transphobia (to a remarkably lower degree than cis people do, but still existent) so you cannot say that you, as a cis person, have no transphobia, since even trans people have some of it

you have no frame of reference to what is and isn’t transphobic, because, as you said, you are not trans . you will think transphobic things. you will say transphobic things. you won’t realize it. that’s life, and the only way to be a good ally is to constantly try to not do those things, and to listen to what trans people are saying about transphobia. its the same way all white people have degrees of racism in them, all neurotypicals and/or abled bodied folks have degrees of ableism in them, etc etc

this is not about you, this is about trans people. you, as a cis person, have no right to decide whether or not you are transphobic. you don’t. its that simple. because you dont know 

like seriously, my post was about how cis people have to listen when a trans person says something is transphobic, and your response was to completely ignore that and say “i’m a good cis person though!” and with that, you’ve already proven yourself to not be

this was very long but ive already dealt with this shit once today and i am so damn angry about cis people talking over trans people when it comes to trans people saying what is and isn’t transphobic

and this is why clueless insecure kids shouldn’t speak for the trans community. 

Thanks for isolating us and making our insecurities higher by basically saying the majority of people are phobic of us.

We don’t need more reasons to feel victimized and different. I’ve suffered dysphoria all my life, and I don’t need naive, uneducated tumblr brats like you making it worse for me by implying to me that all of my friends are transphobic and that I’m DIFFERENT from them.

I don’t WANT to be a special snowflake, I’m a guy, and they respect me as a guy, and I respect them as what they are. 

YOU are being CISPHOBIC, actually. By generalizing a group of people for who they naturally are and can’t help, you’re discriminating against them.

Cis and trans people are just people. 

Did you know every person starts female in the womb? Sometimes chemicals don’t all work properly and leave people intrasex, having both genetalia. 

It stands to reason this can also happen with development in the brain, where the brain might develop male but the body doesn’t, or vise-versa. 

How dare you.

People like you make it a lot harder to be accepted and taken seriously and it disgusts me.

I’m honestly trying to see how the answer is trivializing or isolating anyone, like everything jitters told the person they’re saying is something they directly denounce in their own answer. Like “keep your mind open, there are ideas built into us by what we’re told growing up and you’re dismissing the idea that you could have these universal biases. Don’t be pitiful and treat us like we’re fragile, just listen.” does not translate to “stop making me uncomfortable ever because I have to be a special snowflake pity me and cradle me and all cis people are fucked up and I’ll always be a victim because your every word is a calculated attack on me.”
Jitters is usually a lot better at reading people’s arguments than this, so I’m surprised this response is so blind to the post - not just its subtext, but it’s regular text.

And cisphobia isn’t actually… You know… A thing? There’s no oppressive structure against cis people.

One of my best friends, rosexknight is often attacked for being cis. It’s actually rather scary.

SJWs on tumblr like to think they’re above judging people based on what they were born and not who they are but then they attack people for being white, cis or het. Cisphobia IS real.

I’d also like to point out that the statement this person is saying is how I feel about basically everything that I’m not (trans, homo, etc.) no as a cis person I might not understand it but that doesn’t stop me from loving everyone I know that is trans or homo or even remotely different than me.

BEING CIS DOES NOT MEAN I AM TRANSPHOBIC. Just like being straight doesn’t mean I’m homophobic and just because I’m white doesn’t mean I’m racist. Can I slip up and be insensitive and say super inappropriate things every now and then? Yes. But that doesn’t mean I’m phobic. That means I’m a fucking idiot because I can’t identify with some things y'all go through and need someone to tell me never to say that again. Or that I’ve gotten so used to the person I see them as ya know, a fucking human being and not their gender or race or sexuality.

Because ya know, that’s what they are. People. And aside from changing up a pronoun and tiptoeing around a few issues that I can’t give my opinion on I’m not treating them any different as a human being. Just like I expect them to see me as a friend and not just some cis girl.

And quite frankly I think the fact that people think this way (cis=transphobic, etc.) is the reason for the cisphobia problem. And we’ll most of the other problems of the SJW community. Cisphobia is a thing. Heterophobia is a thing. You’re not a special snowflake. You’re a person. I’m going to treat you just like one. If you have a problem with that, shove off.
