I’m an artist on here and deviant ART. So I see things here and there all the time. Mind you, I don’t have more than 10 followers. I don’t have more than a handful of watchers, with no comments. This is from my perspective.

Every once in a while, I stumble across an artist who has as little followers as me, and doesn’t open commissions like I do. But they’re in need of money also. They can’t afford all these points, memberships, and things of that nature like I do. I can sympathize with them.

Then, I see the people who are super popular. They have Core membership. If they see a pony they want to adopt at a bidding station, pfft, no worries. Get commissions constantly. Well, not constantly. But where a week passes and at least they get another one before the last one they finish. People with patrons that get 300 dollars per month.

Me and that other artist don’t complain. Even if we have art just like the big guys, we get overlooked easily. Not even a ten point commission comes bouncing our way. When I put my heart and soul into an art piece, and not one single person comments or favorites it, yet I put it into several groups. I stifle the frown that I have, instead putting on a happy grin.

Then, those big artists come and complain about lack of money, saying that obviously they need more money. To buy useless things. Like going to Bronycon. Like getting a new tablet while they have one with a workable cord.

I can’t sympathize. Not in the least. I worked my butt off to get the simplest tablet I can get - not those fancy ones with the screen, just the touch pad one. I can’t even afford to go to a con only a 20 minute drive away due to not having enough money. Bronycon? By the time I work up enough money to go, and for a plane ticket, and for the hotel, and to convince my parents to let me go, the whole fandom will be dead.

NOT TO MENTION WHEN ARTISTS COMPLAIN THEY ARE NOT GETTING COMMISSIONS. AND THOSE WHO SAY THEY ARE TIRED OF COMMISSIONS.

Well, I’m sorry about that your getting even one commission. You don’t deserve it if you don’t appreciate the extra money.

Tired of commissions? Your the one that wants the money.

Some people just take advantage of this popular system. It is a horrible cycle.

I’m not saying people who actually need commissions are in the wrong.  I’m not going to flame you for paying the rent, taxes, or food. I don"t want to stop your income, and I would happily sacrifice any commission I would get to put money in your pocket instead.

But when you buy a new tablet, or CORE membership (without it being  gift, of course) and say, “LOOK HOW POOR I AM HURR DURR” that you don’t deserve your fans and commissions.
