So I see this post going around every Halloween, and I comment on it every time I reblog it but I know not very many people see that, so.

This post is not accurate if someone’s allergies are serious enough that they have to avoid cross contamination. Hershey bars, even regular ones, are processed in the same facilities as the ones with nuts in them.

It’s also important to remember that a number of kids who are allergic to one thing will also be allergic to others, so handing out candies that don’t have any of these allergens is always the best choice.

Life Savers, Skittles, Starbursts, Jolly Ranchers, and Sour Patch Kids, as well as anything from Spangler candy company, excluding Circus Peanuts because those have soy oil, (but ironically no peanut anything) are all free of the allergens listed above.

Anything from Tootsie Roll Industries is peanut, tree nut, and gluten free but a number of their products, being chocolate, do have dairy and soy ingredients. (Chocolate in general can be a risky option for kids with nut allergies, and since it isn’t dairy free anyway, I’d avoid it if your goal is keeping allergic kids safe.)

TL;DR: The above post is inaccurate because a lot of allergic kids have to worry about cross contamination, which the list does not account for.
