a lot of older fairy tales involve cutting stomachs open and putting things in them and that weirds me out a little
I personally blame disney for making the tame versions be the mainstream ones. I like the peter pan where peter is the only one who is young forever and kills the lost boys when they get too old. I like the cinderella where her sisters cut off their feet to fit the slippers and get picked and pecked by cinderellas birbs. Those are the real versions and they are awesome.
Uh, ok, but Disney is marketed mainly to be viewed and enjoyed by the entire family.
I don’t think a movie about someone being raped while they were asleep or ripping their own tongue out would be a very good thing for kids.
Plus I wasn’t even talking about Disney? I was just saying there’s a weird common interest of cutting stomachs open and putting things in them. Namely rocks.
Like I’m pretty happy the tame versions are the ones that are in the movies so I can actually go see them with my little sisters.
If you want the gritty ones read them, play the video games, I’m sure there’s “gritty” movies too.
The reason why I mention it is because disney made the family friendly fairytales be what most people know them as. It’s weird to see darker fairytales or darker versions because we associate fairytales in general with being family friendly.
