tbh the mainstream narrative of “deep down i always knew” re: sexuality is really shitty bc though it may be true for some (maybe a lot of??) people it ends up making people (me) feel like they’re faking it somehow, when really you can never be “wrong” about your sexuality….bc it’s yours….
idk i’ve just been thinking a lot about how compulsory heterosexuality shaped my life bc 5 yr old, 11 yr old, 17 yr old, me definitely did not know ~deep down~ that i was gay so when i started to question things at age 19 i felt too old to be thinking about this kind of thing bc i should have Known by then
not to mention the fact that coming out is something that requires a lot of self certainty and confidence that is not required of you if you’re straight. like you have to proclaim to the world that you are something and bc there’s a zero tolerance policy for Being Wrong then you better know for certain when you choose to come out
THIS. ALSO. GOES. FOR. GENDER. !!!!!!!!!
