Headcanon: Asgore didn't kill all 6 children by himself. Most, but not all. Some were killed by members of the Royal Guard or other monsters and their souls were given to him. One human, the one with the tutu and ballet slippers, was exploring Waterfall when they got caught in the first waterfall and nearly drowned. Undyne found them washed up besides the river, close to death's door. When they died, she took their soul and delivered it to Asgore herself.

yahhss, the one child with frying pan in hotland? fell from fatigue from the heat and (possibly) fell into the lava. i mean, i see asgore as the embodiment of cowardice, he did what he thought was right but was too scared to do what would actually help. i get that he didnt want to kill children/humans but leading everyone on with this false hope, how long did he think that would last?

YES. I don’t think he could’ve gone through killing all 6 of them himself. He’s too gentle for it. I mean look at how much he tries to delay fighting with Frisk? He was much more willing to at first, when his children’s deaths and the grief was still fresh, but he’d quickly see the error of his ways. But it was too late to turn back. So he asked the guards to look out for humans and kill them (but of course Papyrus was just told to capture them because Papyrus).
