Ugh WHY is this offensive??? Like yes I get it someone did something bad and shot lots of people and why this flag could be a bad sight to anyone but OFFENSIVE?! As a southerner, I will let you know that this flag has always represented southern pride for as long as I want. Not the Civil War, not Racism, just the pride of the place you live. So fuck anyone who damaged this suit.

The person wearing the suit was doing so to provoke people and he got the reactions he wanted.

Did he state that? Also it still doesn’t matter vandalism isn’t cool and it’s dumb.

My point isn’t about the guy in the suit it’s that to some, like me, the flag isn’t offensive at all. Though, as I stated before, I can see WHY it is.

The “southern pride” that it represents means owning slaves and shit.
The people who waved that flag during war did so because they wanted to keep human beings as property. THAT’S why it’s offensive.

Guys, I LIVE IN THE DEEP SOUTH! I know WHY it is offensive. However, what I am saying is that the meaning HAS CHANGED!! It is NO LONGER A SYMBOL OF BEING PROUD TO OWN SLAVES! You can’t just change things like that. The southern pride it means is the pride of owning slaves. I too live in the south and know this shit. Saying the confederite flag is a symbol of southarn pride minus the slavery is like saying the nazi flag is a symbol of german pride minus the holocaust.

Congradulations. You don’t find it offensive. but then again, you wouldn’t be the kind of person that the people who waved it would discriminate against when it was in its prime.

You’re not the one who gets to determine whether or not it’s offensive. The people that it was a symbol of oppression against are the ones who get to determine if it’s offensive. And most of them DID determine it’s offensive.
