So apparently, it’s not so much that the devil is either “good” or “evil” as we understand it but that he’s a dangerously indifferent instrument of disruption and chaos with a sadomasochistic side, pouring the same passionate energy into everything from the destruction of a civilization to ruining the fun of one randomly selected child.

The worst part is that the devil can be anyone, at any moment. A mall cop who gives you a hard time. The CEO of a business that levels a forest. A corrupt judge who sentences a child to prison for crimes he didn’t commit. An ice cream man who doesn’t follow the right route. There’s no predicting it. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. It’s difficult to even tell if the devil himself KNOWS that he’s the devil from one persona to the next.

Good lord.
