Why can’t there be Christian witches? I thought witchcraft was a practice and not a religion?? If it isn’t a religion then why would you have to worship something? Why not just practice it and when you and thank whatever you are using for using/borrowing their energy? 

Because Christianity itself does not allow witchcraft. Plain and simple. The bible expresses multiple times that magic is not allowed and “of the devil” so to speak. It’s true that witchcraft can be tailored to most religions, but there are religions that are just not open to it. There are versus referencing it all over both the old and new testament. Take the time to look it up, seriously, because religions aren’t trail mixes, you can’t pick out the parts you like and call yourself a part of it. A christian witch is an oxymoron. Personally, I was raised Christian, but I’ve become Wiccan over the years. It felt more right to me.

However, that’s not to say you can’t believe in the Christian god and/or Jesus and be a witch. Because you don’t have to label yourself as Christian to believe in them. Does that make sense? You don’t have to sit in a pew and read a bible to believe in a diety.

So, basically, you can believe in god and be a witch, but you can’t be a christian and a witch.

That literally makes no since. Be a Christian and be a witch but you can’t claim either. You are still a witch. You still think Jesus is your savior and worship him via witchcraft and live the holy trinity and have faith. So therefore Christian witch.

Actually, I do believe you can be gay and a christian (don’t just make assumptions about people). Because the bible never specifically says you can’t. Unlike being a witch. In which case your bible speaks against it. Nor did I ever say you can’t claim them. I’m simply pointing out what the bible says, and if you’re not going to follow your own holy book then what’s the point? Unless there’s a part in the bible that says witchcraft is okay? Never came across it myself, but then again I don’t read the bible much anymore. But I did come across several parts that did say it was bad.

I’ve known several people who believe in god but don’t really think the bible is right (since it was written by men) and therfore don’t use the label christian. That’s what I was referring to when I said you could believe in god and not be a christian.

The op asked why you can’t ba a christian and a witch, and I answered. It’s because your bible says so. That’s why.

And faithandmagick, have you been in a church recently? They certainly do act like it’s an exclusive fan club.

Actually, I have been to church recently, and they absolutely did not act like it was an exclusive club, so maybe you should zip it about “making assumptions”.

By your referencing the Bible as “our Bible”, I’m assuming you’re not Christian anymore. Which means you shouldn’t speak on a religion that isn’t yours (and that you clearly didn’t understand much when you were a part of it). I also think there’s some issues with the Bible as a thing that was left in the hands of men (such as mistranslation and any jackasses that think somehow the Bible never had a single problem with mistranslation in the hands of mortal uninspired men), but that doesn’t mean I’m not Christian.

 Any time the word “witch” shows up in the Bible, you can bet your lucky stars it’s mistranslated and taken out of context.

We are doing the same kind of stuff that many Saints did. Our magic can be thrown under the title “healer”, “mage”, “magician”, “mystic”, etc. The word witch was slapped over anything that referenced “poisoner”. “drugger”, “deceiver”, “one who curses”, etc. These are pretty separate categories.

If I called what I did “magic” or “advanced prayer” (both valid things to call it), one would all of a sudden be bad because no one can get past fucking human language and understand the base of what we’re doing. Turns out, magic is totally compatible in the Bible as long as you’re not doing harmful shit.
