Is your stomach a graveyard?
yes, yes it is
Best gif of all time
My stomach loves to be a graveyard
my stomach thrives with tortured, dead souls
most metal description of a stomach i’ve read.
I love the fact science has proven plants are living, feeling, social things, that communicate and warn each other of danger, the same way many prey and group animals do, it actually makes this argument invalid.
Also a typically thing, those plant they eat? Well, on average, animals die to collect them, it’s common place for rabbits to get mutilated.
They recently discovered some plants make sound and a couple even communicate with sound. Corn uses a clicking sound to guide vertical stalk growth.
They’ve discovered Venus Fly Traps can count to 5.
They’ve discovered plants have memories and can tell time.
Plants recognize their relatives and will deliberately develop smaller root systems when near relatives so they won’t outcompete family.
Some plants may be able to vaguely recognize people based on your colorscheme and determine if you are a threat or not based on past interactions. Much like the sponge, lack of eyes does not mean lack of ability to see light. In fact, plants may have better ‘vision’ than some animals (not counting blind animals, which by definition have no sense of vision at all).
When one plant is being eaten it will warn other plants nearby via aerosol chemicals and (for some plants) sound to begin producing defensive toxins. If a plant is sick, it will use the same warning systems to warn other plants to produce antibodies and immune cells. They will even specify which toxin/antibodies to use.
Plants communicate with various insects. There’s a tree in the Amazon that controls ant colonies. It enslaves them and controls them.
Some plants react favorably to the presence of certain other species, while others react negatively to certain other species. Some plants also will react positively or negatively to different kinds of animals.
Plants and their ancestors caused the Oxygen Crisis, one of the first great mass extinction events, and have contributed more to global warming than any organism other than humans. They terraformed the Earth and continue to do so to suit their own benefit.
Exactly all of this, Plants are in many ways more evolved than something simple, crude, and primitive as a cow or chicken, we actually found out plants have what is basically a brain. It has been observed plants can learn and be taught as well, have memories.
While I honestly hate the meat industry for their behavior and treatment of animals and people, I also hate the agriculture industry for their behavior and treatment of things and people.
Well the whole plant is the brain. It’s distributed communications through a pheremone system.
Also plants are still alive at the grocery store. Still alive when you cook them. At least bacon is mercifully killed before it gets cooked.
S’far as the industries go, fuck it. As long as my food is safe to eat I don’t care about the politics of small farms vs big farms or whatever the issue is these days.
