Hey, let’s not be uncharitable. Your average video game protagonist is a lot more nuanced than you’re making him out to be. He also has:
- anger management problems stemming from ambivalence toward an absent father figure
- unexamined misogyny that manifests as an overbearing and paternalistic protectiveness toward women
- an attitude of comical bafflement toward any item of technology that’s not a weapon or a motor vehicle
- a complete inability to emotionally engage with anything
