Chick tracts are tiny, usually hateful and vicious Christian comic books created by a mysterious recluse who goes by Jack Chick, believed to be an alias since the initials are the same as “Jesus Christ.”

These comic books are sold in bulk so they can be scattered around, left in public restrooms, handed out to kids, distributed any dumb way imaginable to preach to as many people as possible.

Running themes include how everyone is going to burn in hell, how gay people spread disease, dungeons and dragons turns women into suicidal atheist witches and humans rode dinosaurs 6,000 years ago.

You forgot Halloween. Jack Chick hates Halloween. He makes a Chick Tract every year about how “evil” Halloween is and that celebrating it will send you to hell. Funny thing is that he also instructs people to deliver these out on Halloween, which if you did, will assure that your house is egged, tp’d and otherwised vandalized by angry preteens by morn. He’s also published a few tracts demonizing Muslims, Catholics, Feminists, protestors, Wiccans, unemployed people, LGBTA, and Native Americans as well as a few racist and anti-semetic tracts and ones that are guilt-trips.

There’s a channel on youtube called “The Bible Reloaded” run by two atheists which does humorous readings of the tracts every now and then. 

There’s also a few animated Chick Tracts out there and he’s written books associated with the same Christian denominations that are affiliated with Focus on the Family.

I had a customer who used to leave these at my store every Saturday, sometimes two in one day. My backline closer and I would sit and read them and laugh at how racist and ridiculous they all were. We don’t get them anymore, for which I’m grateful, but the fact that they still exist is just miserable.
