I’ve only played the first game.
The story is complicated, but not in a “Oh, it’s a complex story with tons of twists and multilayered narrative” kind of way. It’s complex in the “Poorly explained” way. Where characters appear, vaguely shout about a thing, and when it finally comes time for that event to be known to the audience, it’s poorly explained and vague.
Like what killed Luka’s father? Angels I assume, but the video was shot in such a way that he could have just as easily vaporized from being in Bayonetta’s presence.
The gameplay is great. Fast paced, fun, requires good reflexes, memorization of the level and enemy patterns. I think it’s better than the first 4 Devil May Cry games.
Mind you, I feel the problem with the first 4 Devil May Cries is that they have so many negative aspects that hind an otherwise great core game. (Bosses that are way to big for the levels they’re in. Forced backtracking that isn’t explained, poor weapon balancing, etc.) The first game had these awful underwater first person shooter segments.
The Angels did kill lukas father but he couldn’t see it. He needed cerezas glasses to see the truth. That’s why he associated rosemary with bayonetta because wherever she was, angels were too and the angels were the ones with rosemary.
