New FiM season 6 opening was pretty neat.

Especially with how I’ve been focused on Crystal Empire lore recently, now I got a bit confirmed.

The Crystal Heart’s original function was INDEED to keep the tundra out and create that protected little paradise the last place anypony would go look for it. Who would enter into a huge, icy area with wild nature outside pony control?

The Crystal Heart is once again confirmed to have a symbiotic relationship with the Crystal Ponies. They need its protection, it needs their positive emotion based energy to power itself. To a point where each newborn Crystal citizen gets ‘pledged’ to the Heart through that little ceremony as an added boost to the Heart.

Question: How often does a baby get born in the Crystal Empire? Is it as big a ritual every time (just extra special this time ‘cuz royal)? This is not necessarily ‘just’ like a human Baptism, as humans got several churches to choose from and the ponies only got one Heart to go to. And why is it not heard of before? Just having current problems rebuilding the population or does it fit under some other theories I’ve seen that Crystal Ponies take longer to gestate and grow, and have in general lowest fertility rate among ponies. Still must to learn about this crystal nature of this tribe.

Crystal Ponies continuously shift in grades between shiny and crystal texture. Either to show emotional state and/or to show when the Heart needs to be recharged. Again, part of their close work relation.

Finally explained WHY Sombra did as he did. He kept the Heart within the Empire despite the possible threat it was to him, because it’s needed to keep the Empire from freezing over. He couldn’t destroy it unless he wanted to lose his Empire and position. Couldn’t remove it all together from his kingdom. He simply had to hide it to keep it from being recharged to a point it could be used against himself, until he could learn of how to use its power for own gain. It makes SENSE.

Crystal Ponies… are VERY simple minded. The first thought around all conflicts is “keep the Crystal Ponies in the dark, we can’t have been scared” but then wave a baby around and all is good.
A species run by positive feelings as their power source my headcanon has always been that it’s best they are simple minded to be more easily pleased. And why not? The Heart and Princess will handle everything for them, they don’t have to think too deeply.

ALICORN STUFF:

Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, ancient alicorns, was ascended and not born as they claim no alicorn has been born before. I’m good with this.

Luna and Celestia were once NOT alicorns. I am good with this. Yes.

Luna and Celestia the only two immortal alicorns, according to writers and Faust, this play part in why they didn’t expect alicorns to be able to breed? Immortality = Infertility?

Alicorns never meant to be own species as it is a process of ascending? Did they expect the baby to be unicorn? (Or pegasus if background right that Cadence ascended from being a pegasus in the past). Mortal alicorns being able to breed while representing all of the three tribes, that mean they have equally chance of having pegasus, unicorn or earth pony foals?

Either way… then what is up with Flurry Heart? How did Cadence manage to breed? Why did she turn out to be alicorn? Why the huge wings and horn? representing her huge power levels? How could a simple spell suddenly bind Flurry Heart’s alicorn magic? Can it be used on any other alicorn? Does the Crystal Empire’s magic play any part in this?

So many questions… Some headcanons shattered or change, some confirmed.
Either way I approve of the new season premier. Let the awesome resume.

If immortality=infertility, then cadence wouldn’t have been pregnant. I think it’s more likely that alicorn is a recessive trait and very rare to show.
