Tried different mouth parts, but in the end I decided to use colour instead to emphasize their toxicity.
Can spiders consciously control the amount of venom they inject? I imagine these can.
Neat. And yes, spiders can. Some, such as the Brown Recluse, often do dry bites because they aren’t out to kill, they are just warning big awkward warm soft thing that it is threatening the spider. (For those interested, Brown Recluse Spiders are basically cats that can kill you if you really piss them off).
Most venomous animals can choose how much venom they inject because venom is extremely expensive to produce and they don’t want to waste it. This is why baby venomous animals can be more dangerous than the adults- they haven’t figured out when to restrict venom flow and just dump everything they have into the target.
