// Look guys I’m gonna keep this short and sweet but uh. I’m a trans dude and it’s really depressing that in a world where cosmic star dragons and faeries, curses, the void, yordles and magic, living gods and demons exist that it’s considered “realistic” to kill queer people.
Should anyone receive death threats over it? No, of course not, that is unacceptable, but don’t tell people to “calm down” when you’re discussing the struggle of an entire demographic, people are going to be passionate, I hate getting involved in shit but this strokes close to home. Dealing with transphobia and aggression and feeling unsafe on the reg, I would like to be considered as a human being at least in fiction.
This is not only an issue within the discussion of the events on my dash but an issue in media. The media loves to kill off gay people. There’s even a TV TROPES page about it: “Bury your Gays”. (WARNING for graphic pictures and subject matter here)
It’s an issue guys. It’s a real issue. Please allow people to be upset. Please don’t send people death threats, but also understand that this is a huge issue and deserves discussion and to be brought to the attention of writers and readers alike. Be civil, but understand why people are upset and angry.

spacedrinks said: Is discrediting peoples feelings, and their own very REAL struggles on the matter, if we’re concerned with realism in media, we should first be concerned with the realistic effect our words and opinions can have on people. In a perfect world, free speech, opinion is just opinion! But unfortunately its not that way.
spacedrinks said: You cant say something like “X or Y frows upon gay people and it isnt accepted” on a public blog with plenty of followers and not expect some people to be hurt or even upset. Then saying “WHOA CALM DOWN THERE BUCKO” is only going to make people MORE upset.
