To all the guys out there, especially in high school that play sports. It doesn’t matter if you’re on a team or not. My back hurts so much and I’m sure my constant headaches I have are related to me ignoring injuries in high school just because I was told to be tough because I’m a man. I let bullshit society expectations get to me and allowed me to satisfy with being hurt and now at 20 my body feels kinda like shit more times than it should.
Don’t be me Iight. Get healthy. Get happy.
Hypermasculinity out here physically hurting men. Can’t imagine how much more it affects black men/athletes.
Y'all deserve care.
While I was in basic training there was a young dude that was bitten by a brown recluse on his scrotum. Despite constant urging from his platoon he refused to go to the hospital because he didn’t want anyone looking at his balls.
After two weeks the tissue of his scrotum was almost all completely necrotic and he ended up being discharged from the army.
This is toxic masculinity.
@falling-in-the-rabbit-hole Your dad too. My boyfriend thought his spiral fractured leg was just sprained for two days cause he didn’t think it hurt bad enough to be broken. Then when we did get it checked two docters thought it was sprained too until the x-ray because he wasnt reacting enough to them poking at it.

play-the-game said: Y’all. I had literally turned 20 when I typed this in 2015 recounting how my back already was hurting and my experiences of being a literal boy teenager. I just wanted kids to know younger people and folks my age then that they didn’t have to live and die as “I’m young and I’m invincible” I have no clue why so many people are arguing over this, especially in a 2021 lens. If i could go back I’d literally make this more gender/cultural neutral. But ffs this is almost 7 year old post lol
