Silver Tongue
I have a theory regarding whether people will like the Powerpuff Reboot or not. In my experience, I've generally enjoyed the new show. But one of the complaints I've heard about it is that the humor is really dry and a lot of people end up not laughing. As someone who's always kind of enjoyed dry humor, do you think this could be a big deciding factor?

Dry? Huh. The humor isn’t dry, really, it’s just… bad. I love dry humor myself and I guess if someone were to, for whatever reason, categorize the jokes in this show that way, then this is like really, REALLY dry. It’s a Death Valley level of dryness. Almost all of the comedy moisture has been sucked clean.

The problem with the humor is they’re basically assuming old stale internet jokes that they used to stupidly giggle at when they were 14 is what kids nowadays would totally be in to.

Except they aren’t factoring in that ‘me gusta’ jokes are so godamn old that kids wouldn’t get it, so it looks like they’re actually trying to cater to our generation but are really failing badly at it.

The jokes they use are all jokes we’ve heard before. It’s all predictable. They’re not trying to be original or fresh at all with any of their jokes because it’s just the same shit watered down ‘for kids’ in a style that isn’t even trying to be original.

Everything this show has done thus far is prove that its only purpose is to cater, cater, cater. It’s as if a chat bot was told to write scripts for the episodes. I can’t think of a single ‘original’ thing in that show. The style itself they sacrificed in an attempt to round it out and make it look like all the other ‘hip and popular’ family shows.

For godsake at least Teen Titans Go is using a style that looks like its own thing!

The new Powerpuff Girls just looks like it flung the girls in to a completely different cartoon, it’s styled like a ‘lol so random’ show rather than an action packed superhero series.

Also, if it’s meant for kids, dry humor is honestly not a good route anyways.

You know what it’s like…?

It’s like they reached in to a hat of Popsicle stick jokes, tropes, and memes, and tossed them on to the script.
